July 2024 – Summer is Here!

Summer is in full swing here in the Rogue Valley! Nice and toasty, am I right?

For those that were able to attend the weed day work party on June 26th from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, we hope that you enjoyed this change of pace from a sit-down meeting. We would love your feedback!

Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 28th from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM in the Lewis Conference Room at RVCOG, or via Zoom. A meeting agenda and Zoom information will be sent out as we get closer.

We’re so close to spring! Can you feel it, or are you still feeling the time change?

Looking ahead, check out the JaJo CWMA Meeting Agenda for April. We have a guest speaker, Joel Price from the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA), coming to chat with us about alternative ways of fighting invasive plants. Also, please note that we are planning for a weed day work party instead of a traditional meeting for June 26th from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM.

Whew, January is already almost over! We’re beginning to plan for spring and summer events, continuing to work on grants (or awaiting news on past grant submissions), prepping for treatment work, and much, much more.

Hello JaJo CWMA Team!

It’s that time of the year where members are actively preparing grant proposals for submittal in December, while others are continuing field work and restoration efforts, attending insightful workshops and conferences, and participating in other great environmental activities.

Last month’s meeting welcomed both new and returning members, with a full, informative agenda. Thanks to all who attended! Although I was unavailable for the October meeting, I’m looking forward to future CWMA meetings.

Welcome to Autumn in Oregon: winter when you wake up, spring when you arrive to work, summer at the end of the work day, and fall in the evenings. It’s layers season, everyone!

Many of us are bustling away on restoration projects, performing weed treatments, planning for grant submissions, participating as environmental educators for the Rogue Basin Salmon Watch program, and much, much more.

While our August 2023 meeting was cancelled, we do have an upcoming meeting on Wednesday, October 25th from 2:00 – 3:30. If you plan on attending and wish to share something exciting with the group, I can add you to our growing agenda. Just reach out to: weeds@roguepartners.org.

From restoration projects to invasive species detection, our CWMA meetings are the perfect platform to share information, coordinate restoration efforts, and discuss approaches! Happy New Year! While our reservoirs and snow pack need it, I hope everyone has weathered these series of storms and had a wonderful holiday season. We are busy here at the CWMA to gear up for our first meeting of 2023 on February 22nd from 2-3:30PM. Please mark your calendars and join us! The theme of the meeting will be to formalize the JaJo CWMA in 2023 and we will be joined by Courtney Gattuso, the new Western Invasive Network (WIN) Coordinator! She will be giving us an introduction and overview of the WIN.
